This is the foundational workshop of the It’s On Us core prevention programs. The content of this program can be used by student peer-educators to create shared, baseline knowledge with their classmates through either direct instruction or the implementation of large-scale awareness events. The subsequent programs build on the knowledge students gain through interactions with the learning objectives of this workshop.
Students who complete this program will be able to:
- Understand the scope of the problem of campus sexual assault and dating violence.
- Define what behaviors/actions constitute sexual assault, sexual harassment, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking.
- Define consent (verbal and non-verbal) and understand situations in which consent cannot be given.
- Be aware of the federal laws that offer protections for students who have experienced some form of sexual harm.
- Be conscious of the long-term impacts sexual assault can have on someone’s mental and physical health.
- Be prepared to serve as peer-educators on this program within their campus communities.
